Updates from Jamey
As 2007 is drawing to a close, I am amazed at how quickly the time has flown by. It seems like it was just yesterday when Taylor and I began stepping out into a pretty bare summer and trusting that we had really heard from God to travel full-time without seeking financial support other than church honorariums.
That summer filled up, and as we learned earlier on: All the stories about God's faithfulness are true! We haven't always had a ton, but the bills have been paid and best of all - we have seen God change lives, our own notwithstanding.
About 6 months ago, the Lord began turning Taylor's heart away from the road and to the local church. For some time now, I have watched his heart for discipleship grow and seen an overwhelming desire in him to invest in the lives of people through a local body of believers. I am thrilled, not only for Taylor, but for the church he has recently joined - Clearwater Community Church (www.clearwatercommunity.com/). I look forward to the great work that Jesus will accomplish in Birmingham through this family of believers, and through my brother.
As stated in Taylor's letter (www.trydying.org/news/), he will finish the dates we are booked for ministry through November concluding with The Pen Conference with Double Oak Community Church in Birmingham. Afterwards, his time traveling will conclude.
Obviously, Taylor's departure will affect the ministry in several ways - the most obvious being that Try Dying will no longer offer a traveling worship leader for camps, conferences, D-Nows and revivals. In addition, financial support will no longer be divided between Taylor and me after November, but will go to me as I continue the work of traveling full-time to spread the Gospel and the message of reckless abandon to Jesus.
Up ahead, the website will be undergoing an overhaul to accomadate the changes to the ministry - so stay tuned and please continue to pray for me and especially for opportunities to go. Taylor and I have been blessed with an abundance of ministry engagements over the last few years and have experienced church with many people - pray for these opportunities to continue for Try Dying.
I look forward to continuing to serve the Lord in evangelism and count it a great joy to have served with such a close friend and brother as Taylor. Without God using him in my life, I am certain that I would not be the man I am today. I love you, brother - praise God for two years that will count for the Kingdom together, and many more as we walk the paths that God has ordained for us separately.
To our readers, prayer supporters, Church families and financial supporters - thank you for your continued investment in our lives and ministry. God has used you greatly in my life, and I can't wait for the upcoming chapters to unfold. May we be found exalting His Name and His Word (Psalm 138:2). God bless and much love!
